OK... so what interesting or promising movies are coming out this year? I'm trying to get pumped up for some films this year, but I can't really think of any at the moment other than "Inception", which looks interesting enough. Speaking of Leo, "Shutter Island" finally came out and I saw that one last weekend. Seemed like that movie took FOREVER to come out! I'm looking up and down Fandango at the moment... "Shutter Island" was the only film currently in theatres that I was interested in seeing.

So what promising movies are coming out this year? Oh yeah, I'll probably go see "Green Zone" when that comes out later this month. I usually see the films Damon is in. Might see "Ghost Writer"... but can't say for sure. Might wait for that one to pop up on HBO or one of my other premium channels.

Really, the only thing I'm super curious about is "Inception", and I don't have the slightest idea what that one will be about.

There must be something I'm not aware of! Joe... you're the movie guy; what looks interesting, or promising, or... anything?

Inception, Iron Man 2, Robin Hood (Russell Crow), Alice in Wonderland (Johnny Depp), Robocop (Darron Aronovsky), Twilight: Eclipse, The Three Stooges, The Expendables (Stallone, and yes, Arnie is back!)

Those are the big ones. The review for Shutter Island is coming. I'm way behind, but should be caught up in a few days. I wasn't impressed with Shutter Island, really.

I wasn't all that impressed with the script (though I heard the flaws of the novel are the flaws of the script), and the music at the beginning was WAY too overdramatic, but I'd probably give it around a C or C+. It did what it needed to do for me, and it was able to establish the proper mood. The presentation, the acting, I dug all those things; but then parts like the bit where the piece of paper just "happens" to be floating around him on the side of that cliff.

Really?

Shutter Island Spoilers (Warning: There be Spoilers Below!)

I went with a buddy of mine and we were kind of waiting for the ol' "double twist" to pop up. Because I'll fall for a twist, but I'll be damned if they're going to get me with a double twist!

The ending, just cutting to the black screen, it pissed off everyone in the theatre. Sounded like most people enjoyed it, though. Certainly had its problems, and certainly wasn't the kind of "mind blowing" experience I was wishing for. Of course, if all those names weren't attached to the film, I would feel differently. I'd probably be surprised at how good it was rather than surprised that it wasn't better.

The script, when it was all said and done, fell flat; it didn't leave you satisfied with the story. But I enjoyed the rest of the experience, I have to say, and the story did have me up until a certain point. If they handled the ending and the parts leading up to it better, then it could have been awesome.

Which, seeing as fuckin' Scorsese handled it, it should've been.

And dude... I totally forgot about Iron Man 2. Fuck yes! But "Twilight"? I think I'll pass on that.

Oh, and as far as television goes... I'm in T.V. heaven! New season of Survivor is kicking all sorts of ass (Coach! Coach!), Burn Notice, Psych (which has kind of been dragging this season, but still awesome to watch nonetheless), The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Spartacus (STARZ) has been crazy as all hell, Top Gear and The Inbetweeners on BBC America, just a good T.V. block for me at the time. Oh, and Bill Maher on HBO just started back up, too!

But Survivor is really kicking ass. I'm a HUGE Survivor nerd, I have to say. Really I wish they had 2 hour long episodes every week. I mean, I like "Big Brother", but that's like comparing high school basketball to the NBA! Survivor just pulverizes it, especially with this Russel Hantz cat they have on it, now.

Plus, Coach is kick ass.

Those are really the only reality type shows I really watch; well, those and the occasional Kitchen Nightmare. Watching Gordon scream at people is pretty relaxing.

And I can't wait until the Fall gets here so that the next season of Dexter can air. You still watching or did you stop? Last season, with John Lithgow, was pretty intense.

End of thing.

OK...

So I was half-asleep when I typed all of this last night. I fucked up– "Shutter Island" was more C+, B territory for me.
