hi there,
i am a 30 something year old priamry school teacher from the UK and i was alerted to this site through DC, which i frequent. i belong to a philosphy and theology group that meet down the pub and discuss all things theology and philosophy called the Tippling Philosophers. we have used john loftus' book as a stimulus for several of our debates. now i feel the quest for knowledge has become an addiction.

i just can't get enough!

knowledge that is.

Welcome Johnny. I too am in the UK. Not many of us here but hopefully there will be more soon. The society sounds interesting; I'd love to attend it sometime. Im in Newcastle; where are you?

If you are not too far away I will let you buy me a pint.

huxley, i noticed your englishness from your choice of words in anpther post. sadly, i am about as far away from you as i could get in britain (south hampshire - fareham). tp's is a great great thing, rather like lewis' inklings, and it has bacome one of the most important things in our lives! sad that we are...
i'm sure girlfriends and wives see a lot less of us than they used to. and we read absolute heaps too!

That's a shame you live so far away. Anyhoo, your beer is crap so there's no harm done :harhar:

I am rather jealous of your little club; I dont know any humanists or atheists up here but you do hear the occasional rumbling.

it's great if you can do it - we have 2 christian theologians (1 published), an agnostic interested in gnosticism, an agnostic deist atheist (me) and a panentheist, with 2 more looking to join. we have some right good ding dongs, and a huge amount of daily argument via email. really exercises the old brain. we tried a forum, but 2 of them couldn't access it:
